2011 Floods

In late 2011, a La Nina weather system brought the worst floods in decades. Much of northern Cambodia was transformed into an inland sea, and hundreds of thousands were made homeless. The Kadoorie Charitable Foundation asked Lom Orng to co-ordinate a large multi-NGO relief effort, bringing medicine, food and water to victims.

Lom Orng mustered a flotilla of boats, taking these items - plus medical teams - to inundated communes. A cholera outbreak was contained, and thousands were kept from starvation. These same rural people are now the beneficiaries of the After the Flood project.
